In order to score more you must practice a lot. If you make a training regimen from our site, and do the workout as we have told you to do, you will be scoring more. Besides practicing there is some things you can think about to score more.
1) Drive to the Basket: Driving to the basket is one of the more important things you can do to score more. Driving will bring you easy points and bring you to the free throw line more. 2) Make your Free Throws: You must shoot at least 100 free throws a day. You might read this and say to yourself "I can already shoot free throws," but that's not true. Everyone has room to improve on free throws, nobody shoots 100% at free throws, so why not try and get as close as you can to 100%? Always practice your free throws when you are tired. Rarely in a game will you get fouled and not be tired. 3) Offensive Rebounds: Very important because most teams do not get many offensive rebounds. The more offensive rebounds you get, the higher your shooting percentage will go. 4) Don't Take Wild Shots:Take shots you know you can make. Don't try to take acrobatic shots when it isn't necessary. 5) Play good Defense: Your thinking "Defense doesn't have anything to do with my offense." Well your wrong. When you can shut down the offensive player and get steals they lead to easy baskets. If the player you are guarding is not a great ballhandler, get in his face and play very tough defense. If the player you are guarding is quicker than you and a good ballhandler, lay off of him. 6) Have a good mental attitude:Always have the state of mind that nobody in the world can stop you. Don't take less shots because your defender is playing you tight. Use moves to free yourself up. 7) Move without the ball: VERY IMPORTANT. There is 5 players on the court, that means 80% of the time you don't have the ball. Look at the best players in the league, they all move without the ball. You can rarely find a time on the offensive end of the court where Allen Iverson is still. He always moves around. 8) Be willing to take hits: You can not be afraid to drive in the lane and be knocked around. Don't think twice about driving into the lane. If you get hit you will go to the free throw line. 9) Acting: Look at Reggie Miller. He can barely be touched and he goes flying to the floor. When the referees see this they will call a foul. Don't be too obvious, don't fly to the floor when the defender barely runs into you. 10) Push off: Yes, it is against the rules in basketball to push off, but it is a great weapon to use in order to get open! Do not shove your defender to the floor, cut in and give him a light shove and quickly pop out. This will lead to easy scoring plays. 11) Box Out: You have to box out on the defensive end of the floor. You will get more rebounds and it will get you more points. Remember these four things while boxing out: first call shot, then find your man, put a body on your man, and finally get the ball. 12) Be a smart player: Make smart passes. Don't force a pass when it shouldn't be thrown. Take good shots, and don't shoot too much. 13) 3 point shots: It is essential to be able to hit three pointers at the guard position. You must practice these so you can hit them in crucial situations. Your team could lose a game by two points, and what if you would have made that wide open three pointer you had. 14) Practice: One of the only ways to be able to actually raise your average.
15) Fakes: Do not immediately drive to the basket when you get the ball. Do a pump fake, or some sort of hesitation to get your man off balance. Start with a jab step and take a LONG step to get around him!
These tips WILL HELP I GAURANTEE but they won't help your skill. Don't waste your time watching T.V. or goofing off with your friends when you could be practicing basketball. Ask your self this question: Picture yourself ten years from now, what would you wish you could change? Watching more T.V. or practicing your basketball? I think we both know the answer. Practice your game before it's too late!
